Who
is Supreme - the Pope or the Supreme Court of India?
All the
Trappings of Power
“The Bible is not a textbook in
science. Its world view is that of the childhood of the race, and
this primitive cosmology is seen in all its references to the
physical world.
" The earth is conceived as flat and stationary. The sky is a
canopy or vault through whose windows the rain falls. The sun,
moon, and stars are contained within this vault. Beneath the earth
is Sheol, the realm of the dead. The world and the creatures in
it, according to the scripture, were made in six days."

Unprovoked,
unwarranted Papal assault on India- I
- By V Sundaram - newstodaynet.com).
The Pope wears two hats –
one religious, as the global pontiff of the Catholics, and the
other political, as the head of Vatican State. The second one
gives him and the Catholic faith a global political and diplomatic
status which no other faith can match. As the head
of the Vatican State, the Pope
relates to all heads of State as a political equal and more.
When the present Pope’s predecessor, John
Paul II, came to India, he
proclaimed that the Church planted the Cross on Europe first, then
on Americas and Africa and now, he said, it was Asia’s turn to
bear the Cross! Asia was ripe, he said, for harvesting the souls
– read heathens – for Christ.
In Latin America, John Paul II abused the Protestant Christians
as
‘wolves’
for targeting the Catholics for conversion! Why the hate for
conversions in Latin America and love for it in Asia?
Simple, the more efficient conversions by Protestants in
Latin America are endangering the Catholics, but Asia, with its
huge and weak heathen population, offers itself almost
competition-free for the Church to convert.

The
Holocaust, remains the subject of continued historical
controversy.
The
Supreme Court has declared that religious conversion is not part
of religious freedom in the Indian Constitution and Indian
anti-conversion laws are constitutional.
***
Two weeks back when the new Indian ambassador to
Vatican, Amitava Tripathi, presented his credentials to the Pope
as the head of the Vatican state, the Pope shocked him saying that
Indian laws against conversions offend freedom of faith and should
be rejected as unconstitutional.
This angered even the normally timid,
secular Indian establishment to
react sharply, call in Vatican’s charge de affairs in Delhi and
tell him sternly of the Indian Government’s strong disapproval
of the Pope’s conduct.
But has the Pope the moral authority to fault others for lack
of religious freedom? In the Pope’s own Vatican State no faith
other than his own is allowed. The Vatican Constitution is named as ‘Apostolic
Constitution’, that is
constitution of Christian missionaries!
Spain where till date Catholicism is the state religion has again
a treaty with the Papacy. Will the Pope allow freedom of faith in
Vatican and sermonise on freedom to those countries?
The MP Government did not wake up one fine morning and pass this law. In
1950s it had appointed a committee headed by Justice
Neogi, which included a
Christian member who was also a Gandhian, to study allegations of
forcible and fraudulent conversions of tribal and illiterate
people by foreign missionaries. The committee submitted a
voluminous, unanimous report detailing fraudulent conversions by
the Church. The MP Government then under the Congress party merely
enacted the recommendations of the Neogi committee. The pontiff of
Indian secularism Pundit
Jawaharlal Nehru was then the
Prime Minister.

The Supreme Court has declared that religious conversion is not

anti-conversion laws are constitutional. But the Pope asserts the
other way round, that is, conversion is part of freedom of faith
in the Indian Constitution and Indian anti-conversional laws are
unconstitutional. The question is: who is supreme in India – the
Pope or the Supreme Court?

Benedict XVI on Saturday appointed Cardinal

The appointment comes a day after the Pope

Religious
officials are currently meeting in Italy to figure out a refined
way to delicately suggest to non-Christians
that their beliefs are inferior.
Well,
the Vatican and the World
Council of Churches (WCC) wouldn't put it quite like
that. They say they've launched a three-year project to develop a
"shared code of conduct" on the touchy issue of
conversion.
But
if Christians are worried about offending people while looking for
converts, there's a simple solution: stop proselytizing.
It annoys a heck of a lot of people.
I realize making such a plea is like spitting into the wind.
Christianity is based on the notion of spreading the gospel. It's
just that, as a Jew, I've always had difficulty swallowing such an
approach.
Jews don't go out looking for converts. Jews don't go out looking for converts.
You
can dress it up, but proselytism is still an ugly concept.
Ron
Banerjee,
director of the Hindu
Conference of Canada,
dismisses the plan by Christian churches to draw up guidelines on
conversion as nonsense.
"We don't approve of conversion, period. We don't think that
there is a polite way of doing it," he says.
"They're trying to find a very sophisticated and a very
nice-looking knife with which to slit our throats."
The code-of-conduct project is simply an attempt to sugar-coat an
unacceptable practice, Banerjee adds.
Respect
for diversity and evangelism are very strange bedfellows, indeed.

Pope blesses YSR to turn AP into
'Christa Pradesh'
The
November 9 edition of the "Deccan Chronicle" newspaper
carried an interesting news-story. The Pope
Benedict XVI, the global head of the Roman Catholic
Church, has reportedly sent his blessings to Andhra
Pradesh Chief Minister Y. Samuel Rajasekhar Reddy, an
evangelical Protestant of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
The blessings were conveyed by Archbishop of the Hyderabad
Diocese, Marampudi Joji, who visited the Vatican city on November
7. Recalling his meeting with the Pope, Joji said: “The Holy
Father enquired whether the Church in our state faced any
difficulty in carrying out her mission. I told him that in Andhra
Pradesh, the Church faces no persecution, and we carry out their
ministry without much difficulty."
“The Pope is keenly aware of the rising trends of evangelical
sects and he asked me about the Catholic Church’s relationship
with other churches.” The Archbishop reassured the Pope that the
“ecumenical relationship shared with other Churches is very good”.
Joji explained that in his diocese of Hyderabad, there are 100,000
Catholic [converts], 600,000 Protestant [converts], and four
Protestant bishops, and they all consider him to be their
Patriarch and Archbishop.
This news was also reported in the November 11 edition of the "Asia
News" website, an Italian
Catholic portal whose banner is the previous Pope
John Paul's war-cry against the Hindus and Buddhists of Asia.

What
is alarming here is that Christian fundamentalists across opposing
sects have joined hands to convert the Hindus of Andhra Pradesh -
a revealing tale of "ecumenical co-operation" among the
wolves to hunt the sheep.
The results of the state-sponsored
mass-conversion of Andhra Hindus are evident
everywhere:
1) Hundreds of crores of rupees collected from 'hundis' (donation
boxes) in Hindus temples are being diverted by the Andhra Pradesh
State Government and the Endowment Board to building new churches
and Christian run schools across the state.
2) The sacred Tirupati and Simhachalam temples are the target of
land-grabbing and church building with the connivance of Christian
officials. Ancient temple mandapams are being demolished at
Tirumala.
3) Christian missionaries freely hand out bibles to Hindu students
at Government and private schools in Hyderabad to convert these
impressionable ones while the teachers look the other way.
4) According to a survey commissioned by the Revenue and Endowment
Board of Andhra Pradesh, Christian churches outnumber Hindu
temples in most districts of the state.

India’s Mediocre Leaders ?
Maharashtra's
Congress Government sanctions a Christian township!
To
quote the appropriate words of Sandhya
Jain, a front rank journalist and crusader for
the cause of Sanathana Dharma: India's secular State extends
undue patronage to the Church; as a result Hindu patience is
beginning to wear thin. The situation has deteriorated with the
rise of the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress in some states. So we have
a situation in which BJP-ruled Rajasthan has to change the name
of a colony named after the Goddess Sati, but Maharashtra
sanctions a Christian township!

see from last year's press cuttings that former
Australia cricket captain, Steve

rabid evangelist, Waugh also
donated millions of rupees for the conversion of tsunami
victims. Maharashtra Chief
Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh also appointed State
Industry secretary as nodal agency for the proposal, possibly in
the light of instructions from Catholic Sonia Gandhi.
In
2005, Dharam Singh, the Congress Chief
Minister of Karnataka, brazenly facilitated Benny
Hinn's evangelical blitzkrieg, which mercifully fell
flat, causing embarrassment even to the official church. In the
earlier Congress regime of S M Krishna, Sangliana, a Christian
Officer from North-East openly sided with missionaries when the
Ma Bhagavati temple in Devanahalli (Bangalore Rural) and Sri
Durgamba Temple in Banaswadi (Bangalore) were demolished and
churches erected in their place in 2002. In both cases, the
Chief Minister and important Congress leaders supported the
evangelicals. It is hardly surprising to learn, therefore, that
as many as 84 Churches have sprung up in this area in the last
two years.

a church was being constructed on lands belonging to the famous Bhadrachalam
Rama Temple, given to a Christian organization for
setting up a school, the Chief Minister prevented restoration of
the land to the temple. So now the church is coming up and
conversion activity is in full swing at an exceedingly sacred
Hindu site. What happened on 21May, is only the culmination of
one small episode in the mischievous evangelization process
initiated by YSR last year.

Gandhi in the 20th century have wasted no end of

concludes: This is because the dogma

Hindus
have suffered a succession of setbacks in recent years,
intensifying a retreat that dates back to the partition of India,
indeed earlier. The electoral fortunes of their putative defenders
seem to make little difference to their political
circumstances.
Their ethnic cleansing from
Jammu & Kashmir continues unabated and the plight of Hindus in Bangladesh
remains desperate, echoing the fate of Hindus earlier in Pakistan.
Islamic
terrorists are routinely attacking their places of worship within
India itself. And elected political leaders have sought to crush
one of their supreme spiritual leaders, the Kanchi
Acharya.
India’s
religious minorities are also displaying a truculent assertiveness
that underlines Hindu powerlessness and hints at yet darker times
ahead.
Yet, perhaps all is not lost and a measure of historical
perspective is required to assess what is likely to happen in the
circumstances Hindus encounter. Once Greek thought was virtually
eradicated by the combined onslaught of the Germanic invasions and
the upsurge of Christianity (which became seriously intolerant
after 500 AD) it took almost another 500 years for the European
Renaissance to begin re-discovering Greek logic and reason. The
revival did not triumph wholly even after the Enlightenment and
the intolerant barbarian supremacists are still with us right now.
Islam had already joined Christianity in the race for world
conquest and domination. It reached an apogee under the Ottomans in the sixteenth
century, having swept aside much of the Christian Byzantine world
earlier.
The
Islamic
lust for political power and Christian
quest for world domination remain an
unfinished agenda and military conquest the principal instrument
for its attainment.
This
same catastrophe could befall Hinduism because the beginnings of
their intellectual revival in the late 18thC have stalled since
independence – a coincidence?
Hindus
are also facing the most diabolical and sophisticated assault from
the Church, both Catholic and the various Protestant
denominations. The Church enjoys a huge presence in the global
media and within India too as well as possessing huge economic and
organisational resources.
The Churches have cleverly insinuated themselves into the
imperial ambitions of their Western home states, reinforcing the
political support they receive from these states for their
nefarious engagement with the weak and the poor of the third
world.
The resulting danger of subversion is visible in everything
from the vicious campaign by Elitist
Harvard
Professor Michael
Witzel and his colleagues against Hindus in California
to the way the Dalit movement has been seized and subverted by
various Churches.
The latter rightly perceive the
Dalits to be the most promising vehicles for forcing the retreat
of those who identify themselves as Hindus and demoralising them.
I would recommend Peter Brown’s,
The Rise of Western Christendom,
and Robert Bartlett’s, The Making of
Europe in particular, for a start, to understand
the immense
longevity of their project for world domination. Islam remains
their sole global rival. Hindus merely constitute a sideshow
despite their supposed numerical strength, which is an
oft-repeated empty fact that obfuscates by creating a silly sense
of reassurance.
In India anti-national forces, especially the Left and the
Muslims and increasingly the Church (as distinct from traditional
Indian Christians who are patriotic members of the Indian air
force and navy in particular) have made sure that any move to
advance a national consciousness is instantly labeled
communal and
anti-secular.
Foreign governments, especially the US, have had a
major role in this successful attempt to keep India divided in the
past.
The US government may now be changing its priorities because
of geopolitical reasons,
but the Church is unlikely to allow
Indians to learn patriotism
since that would contradict their
proselytising activities - whatever would happen to their
potential converts?
India’s mediocre
leaders unfortunately chose a
parliamentary system of government in 1947 because they failed to
look beyond their noses, i.e. beyond Westminster in the UK. Large
societies need presidential systems of government to prevent small
groups (read minorities in India) having a veto over the political
system.
While the forces seeking to cut
India down to size seem potent there are some countervailing
factors. There is growing Hindu anger and despair that can be
organised though not by the present discredited Hindu politicos,
who are, alas, beyond redemption. Urbanisation, which is
proceeding apace in India, is connected to this sense of Hindu
outrage because it tends to replace an essentially parochial
consciousness with a more national perspective.

Invasion Theory and chapter on Glimpses
XVIII).

About Christian Missionaries in Africa
"When the missionaries arrived,
the Africans had the land and the missionaries had the Bible.
They taught us to pray with our eyes closed. When we opened them, they had the
land and we had
the Bible."
- Jomo Kenyatta (1897?-1978),
first prime minister (1963-1964) and then first president (1964-1978) of
Kenya. Kenyatta
was Kenya's founding father, a nationalist who led the East African
nation to independence from Britain in 1963.He
changed the history of Kenya by freeing the African majority from the
white-settler minority rule; he gave the Africans back their land and created a
untied Kenya.
The Scramble for
Africa
In Africa, behind the missionaries
came the European mining prospectors, merchants, and soldiers, whose
mission - innocently described by Britain's
Queen Victoria as "to
protect the poor natives and advance civilization" was
to plunder the continent for their own economic benefit.
Missionary-explorer, David Livingstone,
put great emphasis on the commercial as well as the spiritual
challenge of Africa. His message delivered to packed audiences in
lecture hall throughout Britain, his gospel message was distinctly
worldly: Missionary work in Africa could succeed only if it marched
hand in hand with commercial enterprise. Together, he argued,
Christianity and commerce produced civilization. By the end of the
century, more than 90 % of the continent had been claimed by the
imperial powers of Europe. The whole African continent had
become an exclusive poker game in which no player dared leave the
table for fear that another might walk off with the pot.

of disaster has risen in the West," wrote an African
poet. "The Christian calamity has come
upon us like a dust cloud."

Christianity
is understood in Africa to have come hand-in-hand with colonialism. Some
missionaries ignored the message of God and grabbed resources
including land from the people. Later, as black consciousness grew
and African nationalists took arms against colonialists, some church
leaders continued to support colonial rule.
In his analysis of the role of
Christianity in southern Africa in a formal address to the WCC
assembly late last, President Robert Mugabe
said that churches had played midwife to
colonialism, "succumbing or voluntarily surrendering God to the
racism of colonial structures."
As Joshua Nkomo, now vice
president of Zimbabwe, noted three decades ago when he was
addressing a rally in the then Rhodesia:
"The Christian churches have failed. Ministers have preached to
people that they are the same in the eyes of God, at the same time
have supported a social system that divides
these people into groups of unequals.
