Comments:  This site is a good site to getting to grips with the basis of Sanatana Dharma. But there is a lot of work to do ...fermenting and comatosing in the natural goodness of Sanatana Dharma is not enough. We know that there are corrupt forces at work in Bharat who have manipulated and created a facade to fool the people of Bharat. Why are countless people in Bharat being expolited and converted into Islam or Christianity ? Why is Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism being represented as religions when they are in fact philosophies arising from Sanatana Dharma ? Why did the government send the IPKF to rape and murder their Sanatana Dharma brothers and sisters in a neighbouring country ? Why is film industry trying to ape the Hollywood film machine resulting only in D grade movies whilst a huge number of the population live in slums ? Some of the rubbish is worse than what is shown in mainstream western TV/cinema. Why are the "arts" being "taught" by untrustworthy, disreputable greedy peoples who have not mastered the art they are "teaching" themselves ? Why is the Taj Mahal declared as Islamic tomb when it is in fact a Shaivite Temple ? Why indeed.

Comments:  Hi, I've not been through the entire site, but I was wondering if you've come across this ... NASA photo of an Ancient man made bridge between India and Sri Lanka. The article states ... "The bridge's unique curvature and composition by age reveals that it is man-made. Legend as well as Archeological studies reveal that the first signs of human inhabitants in Sri Lanka date back to the primitive age, about 1,750,000 years ago and the bridge's age is also almost equivalent." The article goes on... "This information is a crucial aspect for an insight into the mysterious legend called Ramayana, which was supposed to have taken place in tredha yuga (more than 1,700,000 years ago). In this epic, there is a mentioning about a bridge, which was built between Rameshwaram (India) and Srilankan coast under the supervision of a dynamic and invincible figure called Rama who is supposed to be the incarnation of the supreme." For the full article, Please follow this link: http://www.rense.com/general30/nasa.htm. (Note: This information has been featured in the chapter Glimpses IV).

Comments:  Dear Sushama! My hearty congrats to you on putting up a web-site for presenting Hinduism to the western-world. I can assure you that your service is as much a needed gesture for the current Indian youth - here in India - who have lost on the knowledge - thanks to 'intellectual fad and fashion' in the name of "secularism'!! Hope to contribute to your site as I - in my capacity of a student of social anthropology and Sanskrit - happen to have some years of labouring towards the right understanding of the ancient Hindu Thoughts and Theology. Affectionate Regards - Vedapushpa.

Comments:  Priya Sushma Tai, saprem namaskar vinanti vishesh! First of all, let me congratulate you for designing such a fantastic website. I am deeply in LOVE with this website. I would like to suggest following updates on this site - 1)You can update this site by adding information about 'DASHARADNYA WAR' or war of ten kings that took place in India even before birth of shri Ram. This was one of the important wars of the ancient world that changed the geography of contemporary world. 2) Also since you are Maharashtrian, I suggest you to consider research done by Pune based Dr P.V.Vartak regarding Mahabharat War and Ramayan. He, quite convincingly, states the actual BIRTHDAY of Lord Ram and the date of commencement of Mahabharat war in his books VAASTAV RAMAYAN and SWAYAMBHU respectively. 3) This can help a great deal in scientifically determining the chronology of UNBIASED World History. It is been proved that the our species of Homo sapiens has evolved around 120,000-100,000 years ago. Hence it just unimaginable that the intelligent human being was in stone age and was uncivilized for 120,000-100,000 years and suddenly about 5000 years ago, as today's specialists in this field say, started getting civilized. Hence it is important to make every human being aware of that THIS HUMAN RACE HAS REACHED THE PINACLE OF CIVILISATION BEFORE TODAY. BECAUSE OF COMMON MISTAKES OF HUMAN BEING IT AGAIN RETURNED TO STONE AGE. The ancient Indian books like Vedas, ramayan, Mahabharat etc are the literary evidence for this statement. And we can derive one conclusion from them- THE WORLD WAS A PART OF SINGLE GLOBAL CULTURE WHOSE CENTRE WAS BHAARAT Again thanking you. Kalave, Lobh asaavaa. - Ambareesh G Phadnis.

Praritranaya Sadhunam Vinashaya Cha Dushkritam Dharama sansthapnaya Sambhavami Yuge-Yuge." Bhagavat Gita (Chapter IV:7-8) why we don't read Bhagvad Gita in our schools.? In the name of secularism the Indian govt funds madrasas where koran is being taught vigorously and our secular government gives haj subsidy of 200 cr. per year to haj pilgrims which even an islamic republic like pakistan does not give haj subsidy. Here is an interesting finding by shri shri ravi shankar of art of living foundation: In the state of Karnataka temples generate Rs 40 crores. The government gives them back only 50lakhs. The mosques on the other hand generate only about 50 lakhs, butget Rs 8 crores from the government! This means the government is in effect taking money from temples and diverting it to mosques and madrasas. http://sathyavaadi.tripod.com/truthisgod/papers/020603.htm.

Comments:  It is a good site. Keep it up. When I read about Hinduism sometimes I cried. Oh! What a glorious past we have. We need to protect it. Hinduism is so beautiful, its history is so sorrowful (attack by Islam and British), yet it has survived all invasions and held its head high. No religion can come near to Hinduism in terms of its philosophy, volumes of literature, wisdom and knowledge. It is the most spiritual religion in the world. In terms of spiritualism only Buddhism and Jainism comes next to Hinduism. The Bhagvad Gita. It is simple the most beautiful. I am reading it daily. I am proud to be a Hindu. What we Hindus lack is a political determination, otherwise we have everything. I will appeal to all Hindus to join hands and make India a Hindu Rashtra. Today's Indian secularism is a shame for all of us. Let us strive for a Hindu Rashtra....then only we can make our nation a super power.

Comments:  This site is very informative, comprehensive and it is truly a tribute to the great faith and culture to all Hindus. I would like to thank you for taking the time and effort to portray our rich faith, especially since there is quite a bit of misinterpretation, misinformation of many basic concepts and beliefs of Hinduism. As a recommendation, you might want to include a section on temples (mandirs), and update on the new Akshardham temple and cultural center being built in Delhi. As well as the first world-wide release of a IMAX film called 'Mystic India' (www.mysticindia.com). Also check out the phenomonal service, not just to Hindus, but mankind Pramukh Swami Maharaj has been doing. (www.swaminarayan.org, also a very informative site).

For the first time I came across a resource (True History and Religion of India by Swami P Saraswati) which I believe is the true representation because the writings are rooted in the ancient scriptural knowledge. There are many historical facts with documented proofs which I had never come across. I think it would be a great complementary resource for visitors of this site. http://www.thevedicfoundation.org/the_true_history_and_the_religion_of_india/index.html

Comments:  Namaste, Excellence in execution is what describes this website. I was always confused about this caste system and now I know it is class system. This proves my analysis that Hinduism and humanism is one and the same thing. Science has made humanism more logical but Hinduism is also based on science and fiction in it is only because the masses are not Einstien! One God or ten Gods, worship or not, its all allowed. It is all a personal matter. I believe in all the Gods of Hinduism BUT my concept of Brahman is different and I don’t believe it is a living deity but the higher reality or the principle behind creation. Amazingly Hinduisn itself does not define Brahman and so the reason for the other gods. The images are not real Baghwans and so you don’t have to worship them. It all makes sense once you understand the basic concept. Many would not agree with me but then that is the beauty of Hinduism. No one really cares what the other believes. It is a personal thing. Only the class system is a social thing ad rightly so. Also the most important thing mentioned in the article is that Class comes from spiritual development and not necessarily by birth. This is where the abuse comes from and the should be stopped' The Shudra can drink from the well of a Brahman and there is no such thing as untouchables. If I being an ex-muslim can understand this, then why cant the Hindus. The problem is that this should be explained in schools and not the internet. Anyway, I am happy and proud to be a Hindu in its pure sense and not what Hindus have degenerated into. Also may I point out that the cause of all this degeneration of Hindus is not from the class system at all but its the usual suspect again and that being the Muslim and Islam. Islam is why Hindus are in such a pathetic state today and Christianity added insult to injury and since Judaism and Christianity and Islam are the three sons of Abraham, its one and the same thing in different guises. Also Gautam Buddha was a HINDU and there is no such thing as Buddhism as a religion but the teachings of the new version of Hinduism by Buddha was changed into Buddhism. Yes Buddha was against the caste system and rightly so but back then, Hindus were not in the pathetic state that they are today. The caste system in Buddhas days were exploited by a few and nothing like it is today. Also Buddhas target was the scripture and not the masses because there was no mass exploitation. Buddha wanted to change the caste or re explain it in the holy books and so the reason for the friction. I believe Guru Nanak was also preaching the same thing as Buddha only he got God in the picture because of the Islamic factor. It was a politically correct thing to do at the time. And finally even if Hinduism has its confusions like idol worship and mythical stories it is still THE religion of the world if there is such a thing as religion!, but happily Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life. The main thing I that its is NOT a political doctrine like the monotheist religions. Namaste.

Comments:  I love to see all the details in your write ups. But I would also like to see the following: 1. Below each picture you should identify the source (country, book, year etc.) 2. You should add that Todaiji temple was inaugurated by Boddhisena during 752 A.D. He is better known as Baramon Sojo(Brahmin high priest) in Japan. He was the director of Buddhist community in Japan, and during the inauguration of Todaiji temple, he led a procession of 10,000 monks. Many Baramon kite designs are available in Japan. Also Daruma kites (after Bodhidharma- founder of Zen) are avilable. These kites are flown in January. 3. During 770 A.D., a charming portrait of a Japanese princess portrayed as Hindu goddess Sri (Laxmi) was created. This portrait is is in repository called Shoshoin. This storehouse also contains other belongings of emperor Shomu. The belongings include manuscripts, pictures, ornaments, weapons, musical instruments, utensils, and other articles used during the inauguration of Buddha at Todaiji. 4. You must also include that the name Baghdad is derived from the word (Bhag + Daata) meaning the gift of god. The city was designed by Indian architects and engineers, and the name Baghdad was given in 762 A.D. 5. Samye monastic university in Samye (about 25 miles north wwest of Lhasa) was designed by Shantirakshita and Padamsambhava during 8th century A.D. I believe it was inaugurated around 760 A.D. Its design was based on Odantapura and Vikramshila universities in India which were destroyed by Mohammad Bakhtiar Khilji in around 1200 A.D. Samye university contains about 300 wall paintings of Padamsambhava and Shantirakshita. 6. Naropa institute in Boulder, Colorado is named after Naropa, who was the head of Nalanda University. Tibetan have a high regard for Naropa who went to get guidance from Tilopa, a shoemaker. Buddhists from Tibet also have regard for Tilopa. Buddhist group in Springfield, Illinois is called Tilopa Buddhist group.

In USA, even non-commercial, charity, etc sites are advertised. I disagree with your idea not to be affiliated with other Hindu groups, because power lies in numbers. Biggest plague of Hinduism is lack of unity among groups. Every group wants to be independent, and they don't gather any moss. Jai Shri Ram.

Comments:  This website is really, really fantastic. It is really an eye-opener. I really like and find this NO.1 Hinduism site. I supplicate that you might even consider publishing this as a book. I am sure it could be a bestseller.
