Evangelical Imperialism combined with high moral fervor?

Can Hinduism face the onslaught of Project Thessalonica?

Theodosius I (378 - 395)
The Christian monarch who introduced the world to religious totalitarianism.
"The first Spanish Inquisitor"

       –
Hugh Trevor Roper the author of The Rise of Christian Europe and is best known as the author of The Last Days of Hitler (p 36).

The world’s earliest totalitarianism – of Catholic Christianity – was inaugurated by Theodosius. No wonder to Christian scribes he became ‘the Great.’ In short order, the Roman world was compelled to be Christian – on pain of death! The fall of empire in the west was an acceptable price for the triumph of the Church of Christ.

Mask of White Religious Imperialism?

"If there had been such Bills in the Americas 400 years ago, today we would have a living Native American culture, instead of a broken people withering away on reservations, trying to piece together fragments of lost traditions. For Hindus today, the story of native Americans is a cautionary tale."

“Evangelization in India appears to be apart Of uniform world policy to revive Christendom for re-establishing western supremacy and is not prompted by spiritual motives.  The objective is apparently to create Christian majority pockets with a view to disrupt the solidarity of the non-Christian societies, and the mass conversion of a considerable section of Adivasis with this ulterior motive is fraught with danger to the security of the State.”

Shourie has been an economist with the World Bank, a consultant in the planning commission and the editor of Indian Express. Among the many honors and awards, he has received the Magsaysay Award, the International Editor of the Year, the Dadabhai Naoroji and the Astor Award. Author of several books, including Secular Agenda, Eminent Historians, Harvesting Our Souls, Religions in Politics

Shourie writes:

"The Church is obsessed with numbers -- with the number of souls it had, to use the term so favoured by churchmen, "harvested" for Jesus. Numbers remain its singular obsession today. The Church is big business. Evangelization is big business. And this business depends on that "harvesting" of souls. You just have to scan American church publications, or those of Europe, to see that one of the main grounds on which believers are induced to donate funds to the church is that the money is needed for the harvesting work."

"As a rule, evangelists denounce nationalism."

"I was born to Catholic parents and raised by a missionary Catholic mother and an abusive, born-again Christian, who I will refer to only as "my mother's husband". I was raised in an "ideal" Christian environment, and would have followed my parents' footsteps and would have spread hate against other religions, if it weren't for a fortuitous meeting I had with a Chinese friend of my dorm roommate. Little did I realize then that the chance encounter would end up being a turning point in my life.

The Chinese student was Buddhist who talked about meditation and its advantages. Finding it curious I checked with my University library for some books on meditation. After some searching, I found a book on Transcendental Meditation (TM), a meditation technique founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. That book sparked a profound spiritual and emotional transformation in me and I have never looked back. My thirst for knowledge led me to read more about TM and its roots in Hinduism. I started reading every book on Hinduism I could lay my hands on. In the Ramayana, I came across the life of Lord Rama and his only wife Sita. Hindus consider Rama and Sita to be the ideal couple and the path shown by them as the perfect man-woman relationship. It was a refreshing change from the abusive relationship I had witnessed and experienced in my own Christian family.

The wisdom and spirituality that I found in Hinduism has no parallels. There is practically no aspect of life that is not dealt with in detail by the innumerable texts that are a part of Hinduism. There are texts which deal with the mundane aspects of day-to-day living and those which deal with more profound questions such as those about life and death. To me, the most fascinating aspect of Hinduism was that it was inclusive, respectful and tolerant of all people and their various beliefs, in stark contrast to the exclusivity that pervaded my native religion. Unfortunately the adherents of the latter seem to be on a mission to destroy Hinduism."

Destruction of ancient cultures? Magnificent obsession of the Church. Evangelical Imperialism combined with high moral fervor?

If there had been such Bills in the Americas 400 years ago, today we would have a living Native American culture, instead of a broken people withering away on reservations, trying to piece together fragments of lost traditions. For Hindus today, the story of native Americans is a cautionary tale. Christianity's claims to an exclusive and universal salvation with a naked grab for global resources. 10/40 window. This window includes the world's great unreached people for the Church. It encompasses the majority of Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Jains, Parsis, Sikhs and many others.

***

Project Thessalonica is a sub-project of Joshua Project II. Joshua Project II set the scope and strategy for converting the "heathen" of the world in 10-40 window (regions that lie between the latitudes of 10 and 40 degrees north) whereas project Thessalonica (called PT) prioritizes the tasks to be taken. Joshua Project II strategized the methodology called 'Adopt-a-peoples' wherein every mission agency or church adopted a 'people group'. Tribals were the first and easy missionary targets. Unfortunately the missionary activity didn't weaken Hinduism as the church strategists had anticipated - many of the converts still celebrated and attended Hindu festivals and continued to follow Hindu traditions. As a counter measure Project Thessalonica was started in 2004. Before getting into the details of Project Thessalonica it will be useful to look at the origins of the name of the project.

Thessalonica was a major port city strategically located at the junction of the main land route from Italy to the east and the main route from the Danube down to the Aegean Sea. It was the capital of the Roman province of Macedonia, a free city ruled by a popular assembly and magistrates. The people of this city were rich, technologically advanced and culturally distinct. Paul and Silas, during the Apostle's second missionary journey, visited Thessalonica to preach the Gospel and propagate Christianity. However, Paul's teachings received a lukewarm response from the people. Some locals irritated by Paul's teachings got a hold of Jason and his brothers, who were hosting Paul, and took them to city officials. They were charged with harboring traitors, but faced no physical harm. They were eventually made to post a bond and set free. In 390 AD, the Christian ruler Theodosius the Great, punished a revolt by the inhabitants of the city by massacring more than 7000 people. Much of the city was eventually converted to Christianity.

(Note: In AD 391 pagan temples were closed and all of their worships were forbidden by threat of harsh punishment, then what followed was a enforced Christianization of the empire. During all his reign Theodosius took severe measures against the surviving remnants of paganism. In 388 a prefect was sent around Egypt, Syria, and Asia Minor for the purpose of destroying temples and breaking up pagan associations; it was then that the Serapeum at Alexandria was destroyed).

Also refer to Christmas’ pagan origins - By Kelly Wittmann East Texas Review December 21, 2006).

Project Thessalonica aims to stop or limit Hindu activity by converting people who form the pillars of Hindu culture, festivals, traditions and activity. Traditionally missionaries hate any public expression or display of heathen religions in the form of festivals and temples. Missions want to ensure that no new temple construction activity starts. With this objective they are converting masons, craftsmen and others involved in temple construction activity.

The First Baptist Church of Nashville, Tennessee adopted towns where the annual Kumbh Mela takes place and has been actively converting the locals so that visitors face extreme hardship during their next visit trying to find services and supplies. Another mission group is adopting boatmen of Kasi where Hindus drop rice balls in river Ganges as an offering to their forefathers. The boatsmen are being trained in other fields so that they abandon this profession. They are making environmental groups raise the voice so that Ganesh processions, Kumbh Melas and Jagannath Rath Yatras are limited. One big worry seems to the extremely popular Hindu television programs. Christian agencies have decided on buying these prime slots at a premium and are actively working with programming sources. Over the past 20 years, missionaries also appear to have invested a lot in handling the political leadership, so much so that their activities appear to be almost immune to the ruling political party. It seems that a good section of media is also on their side to such an extent that any group opposing their activity finds itself identified as a militant or extremist group in the news media.

With Christian Jihadis like Josh at the forefront of missionary activities in India, one can only hope that Hindus don't face the same fate as the people of Thessalonica.

Christianization of Asia's Heathens
Relegating Hinduism to Museums and Anthropology Texts?

Catholic Churches Dogmatic Global Ambitions to destroy World Cultures

Richard Dawkins (1941 - ) Is the eminent British ethologist evolutionary theorist, and popular science writer who holds the Charles Simonyi Chair in the Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. He is the author of The God Delusion

He has observed:

"the god of the old testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction. jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty, ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully."

(source: The God Delusion - By Richard Dawkins).

During his 1998 visit to India, for example, Pope John Paul II bluntly stated that the Christianization of Asia is "an absolute priority" for the Catholic Church in the new millennium. He openly likened the Vatican agenda for that region to its conquest of the Americas in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. His language, says Sanal Edamaruku, founder of New Delhi-based Rationalist International, leaves little room for interpretation, even among secular and progressive-minded Indian citizens. "It is, in fact, not the fantasy of [Hindu nationalists]," he states, "but hard reality ... nothing less than the conversion of ... the Hindus of the world is targeted."

Pope John Paul II

The spread of "world" religions such as Christianity and Islam has destroyed most of the world's traditional religions.

Many beliefs once sacred have now been regulated to museums and anthropology texts. The loss of so many "living" religions is a profound blow to human culture. (The loss of languages and other cultural traditions due to increased secular homogenization is a similar issue). Beliefs such as a spiritual connection to dead ancestors, or a nature that is filled with spirits, or even much-maligned polytheism, have provided humanity with a rich and beautiful diversity of worldviews.

Christianity's claims to an exclusive and universal salvation with a naked grab for global resources. The Vatican, in a letter approved by Pope John Paul II, warned Christians against spiritual dangers deriving from Eastern methods of contemplative meditation used in Yoga and Zen Buddhism. He said that it could lead to ''a kind of mental schizophrenia which could also lead to psychic disturbance and, at times, to moral deviations.''

The church's "soldiers" in the field get the message.

As a Mumbai (formerly Bombay)-based missionary whom we shall call Paul attests (he asked that his real name be withheld), he and his colleagues in India have been unequivocally instructed by their superiors to "work extra hard in the conversion process and choose any means possible to convert these heathens." With such marching orders, earthly consequences can be cavalierly disregarded. "It's not how we convert that matters," Paul insists. "Conversion is what counts."

A Group of Hindu boys after their mundan ceremony.

Perhaps no mission tactic galls more bitterly than the intentional targeting of any society's most vulnerable members--its children.

***

In India, considered one of the richest "harvest grounds" in the Unreached Bloc, the methods employed by missionaries like Paul have stirred seething bitterness and resentment among the "heathen" public. Perhaps no mission tactic galls more bitterly than the intentional targeting of any society's most vulnerable members--its children. In a 1923 report to Rome gleefully titled "The Spiritual Advantages of Famine and Cholera," the Archdiocese of Pondicherry related how a famine had "wrought miracles" in a local hospital where "baptismal water flows in streams, and starving little tots fly in masses to heaven."

The practice of allurement, or providing "inducements" to the poor in return for their conversion to Christianity, is quite common, and one that many missionaries readily admit using. It is also nothing new. In the days of the Portuguese invaders, the Jesuits simply paid Hindus by the hundreds to participate in mass baptisms. Today's methods are more subtle: conversions are now "bought" with food, medicine, promises, and micro-loans.

The trend of the global religious competition for market share and influence is clearly towards the dominance of the two “Jealous-God” religions: Christianity and Islam. Both have replaced many traditional belief systems and continue to use any means necessary to suppress the animist religions of Africa, much of Asia and the Pacific Islands, and the surviving remnants of native beliefs in the New World and Australia. It is obvious that the dominant religious belief for the century to come will be quasi-monotheistic (if you ignore the angels and devils and the Christian Trinity and the Catholic emphasis on Mary) and based on the ideas that god is a creature that thinks and designs and plans (in other words, these religions idolize human traits just as much as any pagan Greek). Even those religions that have not yet been crushed (Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism) are being forced to adapt to the dominant ideology. Polytheism, Pantheism, and other worldviews are no longer politically correct due to the constant propaganda of Christians and Muslims.

Are we heading towards a Christian India? - By Francois Gautier

Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) was the Father of the Nation and among India's most fervent nationalists, fighting for Indian independence from British rule. A devout Hindu, he has remarked:

" I am a Hindu because it is Hinduism which makes the world worth living."

"Hindu Dharma is like a boundless ocean teeming with priceless gems. The deeper you dive the more treasures you find."

I am a little uneasy when I see how much Christianity is taking over India under the reign of Sonia Gandhi: according to a 2001 census, there are about 2.34 million Christians in India; not even 2,5% of the nation, a negligible amount.

Yet there are today five Christian chief ministers in Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

Ambika Soni, Oscar Fernandes, M K Anthony, Rev. Valson Thampu, Margaret Alva and CM Samuel Reddy are all Christians.

***

One should add that the majority of politicians in Sonia Gandhi's closed circle are either Christians or Muslims. She seems to have no confidence in Hindus. Ambika Soni, a Christian, is General Secretary of the Congress and a very powerful person, with close access to Sonia Gandhi. Oscar Fernandes is Union Programme Implementation Minister.

Margaret Alwa is the eminence rise of Maharasthra. Karnataka is virtually controlled by A K Anthony, whose secretaries are all from the Southern Christian association. Valson Thampu, a Hindu hater, is Chairman NCERT curriculum Review Committee, John Dayal, another known Hindu baiter, has been named by Sonia Gandhi in the National Integration Council; and Kancha Ilaya, who hates Hindus, is being allowed by the Indian Government to lobby with the UN and US Congress so that caste discrimination in India is taken-up by these bodies.

John Dayal bleats “persecution” to tarnish India abroad - This should hardly be news. But, how does John Dayal live with himself after spreading such diabolical falsehoods day in and day out? Conversions through force, fraud and allurement is a fundamental right? Denigrating an ancient civilization to advance an imperialistic cult is freedom of religion?   Refer to Based on one email letter - Australia is a breeding ground for Hindu Fundamentalists? Says John Dayal

Since Sonia Gandhi a Roman Catholic is at the top, Christian conversions in India seem to have gone in overdrive.

More than 4,000 foreign Christian missionaries are involved in conversion activities across different states. In Tripura, there were no Christians at independence, there are 120.000 today, a 90% increase since 1991. The figures are even more striking in Arunachal Pradesh, where there were only 1710 Christians in 1961, but 1,2 million today, as well as 780 churches! In Andhra Pradesh, churches are coming-up every day in far flung villages and there was even an attempt to set-up one near Tirupati. Many of the North-East separatist movements, such as the Mizo or the Bodos, are not only Christian dominated, but also sometimes function with the covert backing of the missionaries. In Kerala, particularly in the poor coastal districts, you find "miracle boxes" put in local churches: the gullible villager writes out a paper mentionning his wish: a fising boat, a loan for a pukka house, fees for the son's schooling… And lo, a few weeks later, the miracle happens ! And of course the whole family converts, making others in the village follow suit. During the Tsunami, entire Dalit villages in Tamil Nadu were converted to Christianity with the lure of money.

Belgium historian Konenraad Elst laments that " When over a thousand Hindus are killed and a quarter million Hindus ethnically cleansed in Kashmir, the world media doesn't even notice, but watch the worldwide hue and cry when a few local riots take place and a few missionaries are killed by unidentified tribal miscreants. Christian Naga terrorists have been killing non-Christians for decades on end, and this has never been an issue with the world media, except to bewail the "oppression" of the Nagas by "Hindu India" ".More than 20,000 people have lost their lives to insurgency in Assam and Manipur in the past two decades. As recently as last week, four paramilitary Assam Rifles soldiers were killed in an ambush yesterday by the outlawed United National Liberation Front (UNLF).

In my country, France, a Christian majority nation , it would be unthinkable to have Hindus - or even Indian born French for that matter - in so many positions of power. Impossible also to find a non-elected, non French, non-Christian person being the absolute ruler of the country behind the scene as Sonia Gandhi is in India. Indians like to say that the greatness of India is that it accepts a foreigner and a Christian like Sonia Gandhi. But is'nt it rather a weakness, and an aberration ? Can't we find a worthy leader amongst one billion Indians ? This is an India where you see today Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati of Dwarka Peeth, made to disembark from an Indian Airlines flight for carrying his holy dand, a thin bamboo stick which is a symbol of their spiritual designation, inside the aircraft cabin.

Are we heading then towards a Christian India under Sonia Gandhi's helm? It would be a tremendous loss not only to India, but also to the world. For in India, you find the only living spirituality left on this planet.

Seizing India with some help from Hindus

All the debates about Indian history, the politics of contemporary India and the grossly misleading depiction of Hinduism by the media are irrelevant. These disputes are only a part of the relentless warfare being waged against Hindus by powerful enemies seeking to subjugate them. The real goal is the subjugation of Hindus and everything else represents subsidiary gratuitous violence. The world is a pitiless place that has no respect for the weak. And Hindus are weak, retreating on virtually all fronts. Yet the mere mention of militant resistance prompts Hindus to shrink in fright, indeed some descending to self-righteous profanities against all thoughts of resistance to evil enjoined by their very own holiest text!

Islam, Christianity and Hindu renegades are hell bent on extirpating Hinduism. This is an imperative injunction for Islam and Christianity, a necessity for them both to destroy idolaters through conversion or death in order to vindicate their own religious imperialism. Every supposedly patriotic Indian Muslim would instantly exchange the Caliphate and their own imperial rule over Hindus to the secularism that has institutionalised extraordinary privileges for them. Christians too look forward to the conversion of India to the true faith and have no sympathy whatsoever for Hinduism. The blatant opportunism of the latter, as exemplified by the Christian overlords of Delhi 's premier college, in seeking to crush Hindus under India 's contemporary Christian political dispensation makes them the most dangerous enemy of Hindus. Hindu renegades themselves are mainly greedy for money and the gratification of personal status aspirations since defiling Hinduism now guarantees reward from the dominant Islamic and Christian faiths that enjoy effective primacy today.

The genocidal war being waged against Iraq and its people by the Anglo-American imperialists is therefore unlikely to occur in India. Seizure of India 's sovereign authority by means of political manoeuvre is in fact already proving deceptively easy. One by one the institutions of the Indian state and society are being captured and subverted. The incumbent government of India itself is being run indirectly by a group of four or five Christians. And much of the Indian media and many of India 's political parties are already operating at the behest of foreign interests, judging by their determination to foist a thoroughly compromised nonentity as President on India . As an aside, it may be noted that there are grounds for suspecting that one self-declared Hindu Swami, who enjoys frequent exposure on a Christian-owned New Delhi news channel, is probably a covert Christian himself. This fraudulent religious figures constantly refers to Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi while opposing everything they actually believed in practice. The political party claiming to represent Hindu interests has turned out to be their worst enemy, pre-empting and subverting protest by them for reasons that demand the closest scrutiny. Once again, Hindu thirst of petty, immediate personal gains as well as complete lack of foresight is leading India towards calamity.

Sacrilege at Tirupati hills
Creating a Christian oligarchy in India ?

W. Somerset Maugham (1874-1965), English playwright and novelist wrote:

"...I couldn't but surmise that the devil, looking at the cruel wars that Christianity has occasioned, the persecutions, the tortures Christian has inflicted on Christian, the unkindness, the hypocrisy, the intolerance, must consider the balance sheet with complacency. And when he remembers that it has laid upon mankind the bitter burden of the sense of sin that has darkened the beauty of the starry night and cast a baleful shadow on the passing pleasures of a world to be enjoyed, he must chuckle as he murmurs: give the devil his due."

Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822), English poet:

"The same means that have supported every other popular belief, have supported Christianity.

"War, imprisonment, assassination, and falsehood: deeds of unexampled and incomparable atrocity have made it what it is."

Church fears Indian/Hindu Nationalism and Secularism?

Thomas Fanshawe Middleton (1769 - 1822) Anglican Missionary remarked

'the surrender of the Christian Church to the rising powers of nationalism is the major betrayal of Christ'

'The nationalism of India, China and Japan, of India in particular, rankles in the heart and eyes of both the Christian capitalism and imperialist Christianity'

Rufus Matthew Jones (1863 - 1948) an American Quaker declared that,

''the greatest rival of Christianity in the world today is not Mohammedanism, Buddhism or Hinduism or Confucianism but a worldwide secular way of life. (Jerusalem Meeting Report Quoted by Bharti p. 37). For Rufus Jones, the world conflict was between Christianity and secularism.

It is almost Midnight for India's Hindu Community ?

The current initiative of Sri Swarupanandendra Swami of the Visakhapatnam-based Sri Sarada Peetham to mobilise Hindu seers to protect dharma in the face of rising depredations by evangelists has not come a day too soon. While religious conversions are innately offensive, the rising political eminence of an Italian-born Roman Catholic has witnessed a corresponding growth of aggressive proselytising at famous Hindu pilgrimages and holy sites.

Ms Sonia Gandhi a Roman Catholic, has reinforced missionary muscle by sponsoring the rise of Christians in Congress State Governments and party units on an unprecedented scale. Non-Christian Congress Chief Ministers have been made to acquiesce in missionary activities, and outrageously 'leaky' welfare schemes have been floated for the benefit of the tax-free NGO industry, most of which is anti-Hindu.

The latest affront to India's civilisational ethos comes from missionary activities at Tirumala and Simhachalam, where police were compelled to take the offending preachers into custody. This has forced the normally quiescent authorities of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) to urge Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy to enact legislation to prohibit propaganda by non-Hindu faiths on the seven Tirumala hills, traditionally regarded as the sacred body of Sri Vishnu.

Sri Venkateswara. The ancient and sacred temple of Sri Venkateswara is located on the seventh peak,Venkatachala (Venkata Hill) of the Tirupati Hill.

The temple of Sri Venkateswara has acquired unique sanctity in Indian religious lore. The Sastras, Puranas, Sthala Mahatyams and Alwar hymns unequivocally declare that, in the Kali Yuga, one can attain mukti, only by worshipping Venkata Nayaka or Sri Venkateswara. The benefits acquired by a piligrimage to Venkatachala are mentioned in the Rig Veda and Asthadasa Puranas. In these epics, Sri Venkateswara is described as the great bestower of boons.

All the great dynasties of rulers of the southern peninsula have paid homage to Lord Sri Venkateswara in this ancient shrine. The Pallavas of Kancheepuram (9th century AD), the Cholas of Thanjavur (a century later), the Pandyas of Madurai, and the kings and chieftains of Vijayanagar (14th - 15th century AD) were devotees of the Lord.

***

It is inconceivable that the TTD authorities are unaware that the Chief Minister avidly promotes the activities of his Seventh Day Adventists sect, and has even built a church upon his family lands.

The coy usage of the term "constitutional benefits," instead of specifying caste or community-based reservations, suggests that the NCRLM's real objective is to recommend a blanket extension of all constitutional benefits of Hindu SC/ST groups, to Dalit Christians. This will provide backdoor political reservations for Dalit (Oppressed ?) Christians by helping them to contest from and grab the existing SC/ST parliamentary and Assembly seats.

This would be consistent with the UPA agenda of fragmenting the nation by privileging non-Hindu social groups. It also explains Ms Gandhi's indiscreet overtures to the Muslim community on the issue of reservations in Government (Andhra Pradesh's failed attempt), educational institutions (Aligarh Muslim University), and armed forces (Mr Sachar's infamous but aborted head count). Worse, like Minto-Morley, she recently instigated Muslims to demand greater representation in public life, which certainly suggests communal reservation in Parliament and the State Assemblies.

Of course, Ms Gandhi does not actually intend to empower the Muslim community. Repeating the familiar Western political subordination of Muslim communities all over the world, her intention is to create a Christian oligarchy in India, with Muslims serving as beasts of burden (captive vote-banks). Hence the mollycoddling of the Muslim community in a manner designed to raise the hackles of Hindus, with obvious repercussions for the 'winability' of Muslim candidates. This is expected to drive the community back into the Congress embrace. An NCRLM recommendation to extend SC/ST constitutional guarantees to converts will, therefore, mainly benefit the Christian community.

(Refer to Delhi fiddles while the northeast burns - rediff.com - We lost Taxila, Karachi , Dhaka . Post independence, we lost 1.25 lakh square kilometres of land to Pakistan and China. Beijing still eyes Arunachal Pradesh. Then Indians lost lands and homes in the Kashmir valley and became refugees for the 'sin' of supporting India. Now, jihadis, Maoists and church-supported insurgents want their share. Where will this all lead to?).

Lord Minto (1845 - 1945) Viceroy of India and Lord Morley (1838 - 1923).

He and his colleague John Morley sponsored the Morley–Minto Reforms Act (1909). The act moderately increased Indian representation in government but was criticized by Indian nationalists because of its creation of separate electorates for Hindus and Muslims.

***

If there is no resistance to this diabolical scheme, Ms Gandhi could soon have a significant Christian lobby in Parliament, through a fraudulently procured amendment altering the basic structure of the Constitution.

An East Timor-like situation (one of the two predominantly Christian country in Asia, the other being Philippines with 90% Christian population) could develop in any part of the country where Western Christian nations have a geo-strategic or purely economic interest. Their lust for the mineral-rich north-east predates independence and is fostered by insurgency movements backed by various church denominations.

Indians need to acknowledge the abiding kinship between the Church and political power in the West. Christianity underwrites Western civilisation, a fact its ruling elite never loses sight of, unlike India, where it is fashionable to use Euro-centric slogans to undermine the native ethos. Little wonder Ms Gandhi's Indian ascent has seen the appointment of Indian Catholic theologian Ivan Dias as ex-Cardinal Ratzinger's heir to the (renamed) office of Grand Inquisitor.

It is almost midnight for India's Hindu community.

Note: 'Dalit' theology is being promoted by Christian evangelical and proselytizing groups to promote the 'spreading of the Gospel' which is an euphemism for achieving conversions by any means.
